Daystar Chamber Ensemble Concert:
On Friday, October 19, 2007 the Daystar Chamber Ensemble will present a concert of chamber music. The musicians are: Anna Gendler, violin, Alexander Tentser, piano, Harvey Wolfe, cello, Lindabeth Binkley, oboe. In the program: Trio for violin, cello and piano in A Minor by Tchaikovsky, Sonata for piano Op. 31 #2 by Beethoven, Trio Sonata by Telemann. The concert will take place at Our Saviour s Lutheran Church, 1200 N. Campbell (one short block north of Speedway). Suggested donation $ 15

The Astonishing Valaam Ensemble Comes to Tucson Friday, November 10, 2006, at 7 p.m. Rincon/University High School Auditorium Valaam Choral Ensemble from the ancient Valaam Monastery near St. Petersurg, Russia, composed of five male singers, will present a program of sacred monastic chant, followed by selections of Russian folk music. • Folk songs and carols in Russian, Ukrainian, English and French • Sacred Orthodox Chants of the Kievan, Greek, Bulgarian, and Serbian traditions Their magical voices and harmonies reach the depths of one’s soul and beckon you to fly with the angels…. Each number has its own costume (over 500 costumes used in the concert) Each dance has its own choreographer, usually from the country being represented. They sing in at least 12 European languages and dialects. The performers are full-time students who receive substantial scholarship awards from Duquesne University, with additional financial aid provided by Tamburitzans Scholarship Endowment Funds.
